What is Nazufi Japanese Friends Beta?
Nazufi Japanese Friends Beta is an early test version built around real-life Japanese. It focuses not only on what a word or sentence means, but also on how relationships, settings and tone can affect the way an expression is understood.
The aim is to learn directly from early users and use their experiences to shape the next stage of development.
What you can try in this beta
Choose from three Reading Levels: Starter, Beginner or Intermediate+.
Read short, everyday situations and Japanese expressions.
Answer quiz questions by considering context and nuance.
Check the explanation and learn how the expression is used naturally.
Why learn through context?
In Japanese, the most natural expression often depends on the relationship between the speakers, the setting and the tone of the conversation. A direct translation may communicate the basic meaning, but it does not always explain how the words feel in real life.
For example, daijōbu desu can mean “I’m fine”, but when a shop assistant asks whether you need a bag, it can also be a gentle way to say that you do not need one. The surrounding context changes how the same expression is understood.
Nazufi Japanese is designed to make those less visible parts of the language easier to notice and understand.
Who is it for?
This beta may be particularly useful for people who are beginning to learn Japanese, those who know some vocabulary and grammar but feel unsure in real conversations, and learners who want to understand more natural wording and nuance.
How to try the beta
Open the Friends Beta page, select your Reading Level and answer the short questions. No account registration or email address is required.
Your feedback matters
At the bottom of the beta page, select “Send feedback” to open a short feedback form. It takes about a minute, and your answers will help shape the next beta. You do not need to provide your name or email address.
A small first step
This beta is a small first step in developing the learning tool. Feedback from early testers will be used to improve the questions, explanations, Reading Levels and overall learning experience.

日本語は、同じ言葉でも場面や相手との関係によって意味合いが変わります。そうした「文脈の差」を短いクイズで体験できる学習ツール「Nazufi Japanese」のFriends Beta版が、Nazufiのウェブサイト上で公開されました。
単語や文法を一つずつ暗記するだけではなく、「この場面では、なぜこの表現が自然なのか」を短いクイズを通して考えながら学べるβ版です。
Starter、Beginner、Intermediate+の3つからReading Levelを選び、登録なしで試せます。今回は正式版に向けた初期テストとして公開されています。

本ツールは、道中きずき氏のアイデアをもとに、同氏と協力しながらNazufiサイト上でFriends Betaとして制作・公開されています。
Nazufi Japanese Friends Betaとは
Nazufi Japanese Friends Betaは、実際の会話に近い場面から日本語を学ぶための初期テスト版です。言葉の意味だけでなく、話す相手との関係、場面、言い方によって生まれるニュアンスにも目を向けます。
正式版を一方的に作り込むのではなく、まず少人数の方に試していただき、実際の学習体験や意見を次の開発に反映することを目的としています。

問題数をこなすことよりも、「なぜその答えになるのか」を自分で考える過程を大切にしています。
直訳だけでは分からない日本語のニュアンス
日本語では、話す相手との距離、状況、声の調子などによって、自然な表現が変わることがあります。英語への直訳だけでは基本的な意味を理解できても、実際の会話で言葉がどのように受け取られるかまでは分からないことがあります。
例えば、「大丈夫です」は “I’m okay” という意味だけではありません。コンビニで袋が必要か聞かれた場面では、「袋は結構です」という柔らかい断りとして使われることもあります。同じ表現でも、文脈によって伝わる意味が変わります。
Nazufi Japaneseでは、こうした教科書だけでは見えにくい部分を、具体的な場面とクイズを通して気づきやすくすることを目指しています。

Friends Betaページを開き、最初にReading Levelを選んでください。その後、表示される短い場面を読み、クイズに回答します。アカウント登録やメールアドレスの入力は必要ありません。
1分のフィードバックで次のβ版を支える
βページの下部にある「Send feedback」ボタンから、約1分で回答できるフィードバックフォームを開けます。名前やメールアドレスを入力せずに回答できます。
Reading Level、役立ち度、もう一度使いたいか、興味を持った質問、分かりにくかった点などを伺い、次のβ版の改善に活用します。
